BUND e.V.

The tour starts at Marbach/Neckar train station and takes you to the first information board of the wildcat trails, which you can see again and again along the route. On the quiet cycle path through meadows and wetlands you pass the water buffalo in the Bottwartal and catch a glimpse of Lichtenberg Castle

The small village concern, a district of the city of Upper Harz, is located in the middle of the resin, surrounded by dense coniferous forests and not far from the border with Lower Saxony. But while along the inner-German border, the border installations, fences and watchtowers have been mostly completely

This hike takes you to the Cheiner peat bog, which has been well preserved in the shadow of the former inner-German border. This allows you to observe rare species such as the peat meadow butterfly, a very special butterfly. We recommend a visit in spring when the concert of moor, tree and grass frogs

This hike takes you to near-natural waters and colorful, blooming wet meadows. At the Brietz ponds you can best enjoy the Eldorado for waders and water birds, dragonflies and amphibians from the observation stands. Since the end of the 1990s, the former "brick oak" has been remodeled in a natural way

About 3 kilometers northeast of Jeebel lies the deserted village of Jahrsau. Visitors can explore the ruins of the village and experience its history along a circular trail.

During the GDR era, the village, with its four farmsteads, was located in the restricted border zone. As in many other border towns

On this hike, you'll experience the primeval, wetland-like forests of the Bürgerholz Salzwedel. With a bit of luck, you might spot cranes, black storks, and white-tailed eagles. The trees stand right in the middle of the water. We recommend visiting in spring when the white water violet blooms in the

The tour begins in Trappstadt, a market town with market rights in Bavaria. You hike to the state border to Thuringia. The border hiking trail is marked with an orange-brown sign. In some sections, the border fences are still standing, which are supposed to remind of the border and the "death strip

Combine nature experiences and "border experiences": From the parking lot at the Black Moor, a circular route first leads through the Black Moor and then to the Grabenberg border tower and the remains of the border fortifications on the inner-German border. In the event of snow or ice, the Moorsteg is closed for safety reasons.
