Pottok are local horses, a breed in their own right. They are released into the wild by breeders for the sole purpose of grazing in pastures. They do not produce meat and are not ridden. The Astate is a peak culminating at 1,022 meters above sea level on the ridges of Iparla. Located on the GR 10 and right on the Franco-Spanish border, it offers extraordinary views of the Pyrenees chain.

The Gorramendi is a Spanish summit which culminates at 1,071 meters above sea level. It offers a breathtaking view of the Baztan valley as well as several peaks of the Pyrenees chain. A pleasant ridge connects it to its neighbour, the Gorramakil.
