The representative building with a horseshoe-shaped floor plan and steep gable roof was built between 1574 and 1590; Remains of a previous building (armoury) can still be seen in the north wing. The west and south facades were designed around 1730. In the open inner courtyard there is a two-story arcade and two slender towers with onion helmets. There are paintings by J. F. Fromiller in the large and small coat of arms hall.

The Landhaus Klagenfurt is a historically significant and at the same time most representative secular building in the Carinthian state capital Klagenfurt. It is located between Heiligengeistplatz and Alter Platz on the edge of the oldest part of Klagenfurt city center. The country house was built between 1574 and 1594 as part of the expansion and fortification of the city by the Carinthian estates. It is still the seat of the Carinthian state parliament today.
