The Babeş-Bolyai University Cluj (Universitatea Babeş-Bolyai) got its name after the Romanian physician Victor Babeş (1854-1926) and the Hungarian mathematician János Bolyai (1802-1860).
The institution is one of the very few trilingual universities in Europe. It is taught here in Romanian, Hungarian and German.
The German-speaking University was founded in 1776.
