The square is in the very centre of Ripon and is mainly used as a short stay car park. The car park is closed on Thursdays to make way for Ripon’s market.

Ripon has a stunning gothic cathedral as its centrepiece. It was Founded in the 7th century, the town centre has a mix of architecture dating back to the medieval period, including its Georgian town hall and the Market Place, which has been there since the 12th century.

Bedale is a small market town in the district of Hambleton. It is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales and is ideally situated for many of the Dales attractions.

An award-winning museum dedicated to the life, books and TV series of Alf Wright - the Yorkshire vet better known as James Herriot. It is the original 1940's home and practice better known as Skeldale House, although the film location is in Askrigg.

Bedale is a thriving market town centred round a cobbled, Georgian square. It still continues its 750 year tradition of holding its market on a Tuesday. As it is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales it makes for a great base for exploring further. There are a number of great cafes in the town or for something cycling specific try the Tandem Cafe on the Bedale Road heading north east from the centre. There a number of interesting historic buildings in Bedale, including Bedale Hall, the Leech House (used by an apothecary to store leeches) and the Old Grammar School.

Snape Castle was originally built as a manor house in the 13th century but upgraded to its current castle status in the 15th century and later added to in the 16th century. Catherine Parr spent much time here at Snape Castle prior to her marriage to Henry VIII with her then husband John Neville who died in 1543. The west wing of the castle is available to rent out as a holiday let,

Ripon is actually a city, not a town as its size might suggest. A small city maybe, but one that is full of history. The Market Place is the centre of Ripon, with its 24m obelisk at the centre, the oldest free standing obelisk in England built to replace the old market cross. From here expand a network of streets and alleyways with a plethora of shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants always ready to feed a pair of hungry legs.
