On the right of the beach there are few small but nice to explore coves (very picturesque). Very nice rock formations and black rock. There is also a very narrow passage around 20m long where you can explore and expand the beach experience. As always around sea CHECK TIDE TIMETABLES so you're aware if sea is coming in or going out.

This really is a beautiful place to visit and well worth a detour if you are passing close by. You can walk out to the viewing tower via the boardwalk but keep in mind that there is not a lot of space to pass visitors if you do take your bike with you.

According to local legend, an 8th-century Christian holy man called Maol Ruadh, or The Red Priest, made his dwelling here. According to the story, the Red Priest was killed at the entrance to the cairn by a band of Viking raiders. In a clearing in a wooded field near the River Naver stands the remains of a Neolithic chambered cairn. The cairn is composed of two chambers divided by large upright stones. The top of the cairn has been lost, so you can easily see the arrangement of the chambers and the central passage that leads to it. Part of a vast expanse of blanket bog, sheltered areas and mountains known as flow country. The RSPB has been managing over 20,000 acres of this important landscape for over 20 years. It's an important habitat for many birds and animals including Greenshanks, Dippers, Golden Plover and Hen Harriers. The visitor centre and toilets are open every day from 9:00 - 17:00, the nature reserve is always open.
