This is a great and challenging trail. I encountered many other people walking it with dogs.

Beginner ride. A little over 2 miles out and then back. Would have liked to have gone further but it was marked “No trespassing.“ Looking later at the map I saw it was just state game lands. We mostly saw fishermen and views along the creek. Water was high.

The Chuck Keiper Trail is a 50-mile loop through Sproul State Forest, offering one of Pennsylvania's most remote backpacking experiences. Traversing rugged plateaus and deep hollows, it passes through two state natural areas and two wild areas, including the Fish Dam and Burns Run Wild Areas. The trail features steep climbs, stream crossings, and landmarks like Yost Run Falls and the historic Eddy Lick Run splash dam. Named after Charles F. Keiper, a dedicated wildlife conservation officer for Western Clinton County from 1951 until his death in 1973, the trail honors his commitment to preserving Pennsylvania's wildlands.

Six Mile Run is picturesque. This cold water stream surrounded by lush ferns and wild rhododendrons looks like a scene from a fairy tale. The AFT Trail runs along its banks in this section and is an ideal water source during a long hike—just be sure to use a filter. As you explore the area, you might spot white-tailed deer (if you're quiet), wild turkeys, and plenty of songbirds.

The Moss-Hanne Trail, shared with the AFT, winds through the Black Moshannon Bog Natural Area through lush forests, swamps, and marshes. While some sections may be a bit muddy, there are boardwalks in place in the right areas to keep your feet relatively dry. The trail is easy to navigate, with few obstacles aside from occasional wet, muddy spots, making it an enjoyable and scenic journey through the bog, where you'll have plenty of shade from trees for most of the trek.

The Penns Ceek Path is a short section of the 328-mile Mid State Trail. As the name suggest it follows Penns Creek through beautiful forest and an old converted train tunnel. You'll find toilets and water at the western end of the path in Poe Paddy State Park.

This 62-acre nature center includes a farmstead and a significantly larger wetland area. You can't bike the trails in the nature center itself, but it makes a great destination to bike to, or to bike around on the adjacent trails and roads.

Black Moshannon State Park provides access for a few outdoor activities across this 3,394-acre landscape. Black Moshannon Lake is one of the park's highlights, where trout can be caught and swimmers can enjoy themselves.
