A little history:
The Hellweg gasworks, built at the end of the 1840s, was shut down in 1922. After the gasworks had given up the site of the second municipal gas lighting facility, Heinrich Wiepking-Jürgensmann created a meadow park. In 1936, during the Nazi dictatorship, it received the name Harry Anderssen Park. SA member Anderssen, an official of the Prussian State Bank, died in September 1926 after a politically motivated fight with KPD supporters. After the war ended, the name was changed to Urbanpark in 1945. Since 1951 he has been named the first DGB chairman Hans Böckler.
